Genus Gryllotalpa

This group with two species differs from all others in having the pronotum smooth and shining.

Forewings with light and dark areas on dorsal field, blackish or dark brown on upper side of lateral field, and with a smaller brown spot near lower anterior end of lateral field of pronotum.

Diagnostic criteria for this species:

  • body length 30-35mm, pronotal length 10-11.5mm, forewing length 10-11mm. 

  • pronotum smooth and shining

  • general colour mahogany brown, darkest on face, pronotum and dorsum of abdomen
