Lophyrotoma cyanea (Pergidae: Pterygophorinae) PW014

Detailed description of an adult male Lophyrotoma cyanea (PW014), collected at home on 20 October, 2022 (see this iNaturalist observation).
Notes accompanying these images were taken from the original description of this species by Leach (1817) and the revision by Benson (1938). I have noted in square brackets [] where features of this insect differ from the description in the literature.
Left hind leg was removed from this specimen and sent to Erinn Fagan-Jeffries on 16/5/2025. Sequencing was unsuccessful so the other hind leg was mailed to her on 16/3/2026.
Whole, pinned specimen was shipped to CBG for barcoding in October 2026.
